Abilene SSLC Grows Again!

[OCT 2023] 25 new members joined at Abilene SSCL following the pay raise victory, when TSEU won a $6,000 across the board raise for all state workers. TSEU pushed hard for $10,000 because, by the state’s own exit surveys, state workers were leaving in droves for jobs that paid $10,000 or more than what they were currently making. Members are building a bigger and stronger TSEU to get the rest of our pay raise next session!

40+ join TSEU on the 40 ACRES!

[JAN 2023] TSEU activists participated in a UT Austin Pay Raise Week of Action from January 23-27, signing 40 new TSEU members and 21 new members to the Political Action Committee.

Hundreds signed the Pay Raise Petition asking the UT President, Board of Regents, and local legislators to publicly support HB 202 by Rep. Bucy, which would give a $10,000 across-the-board pay raise to state employees and university workers. The campaign to win a Pay Raise continues!

Brenham SSLC increases membership by 25%

[JAN 2023] Activists at Brenham SSLC have demonstrated a single-minded focus on organizing, with the goal of winning an across-the-board pay raise, improving working conditions for employees and providing the highest quality services to clients at SSLCs.
TSEU members Amber Johnson, Shequita Dickerson, and Tasha Walker have spearheaded the organizing campaign, working with other Brenham SSLC union members. In the face of a nearly 45% turnover rate at Brenham SSLC, these determined activists have increased union membership at the facility by 25% over the last year by leafleting, talking with employees about the importance of building a strong union, and signing up their co-workers to TSEU.
Their goal is to continue to increase union membership at Brenham SSLC, and be prepared to hit the ground running in January. Then, they will work with TSEU members statewide to take their campaign to the Legislature.
