Union members demonstrate for UT Pay Raise for all campus workers
TSEU members will rally, march, and create a ‘human billboard’ on Guadalupe in front of UT

UT union members will be joined by TSEU elected leadership from across Texas, and from all of the major universities and state agencies in the state as they demonstrate for a $10,000 pay raise for all campus workers this Friday, September 13.

University workers have not had an across-the-board pay raise since 2001. Union members say they have fallen further and further behind as their pay has stagnated and the cost of living has continued to climb, particularly over the last few years. TSEU members analyzed UT’s budget and say that UT has the money to give a $10,000 across the board pay raise if President Hartzell prioritizes workers.

Union members at UT turned in over two thousand petition signatures to President Hartzell last spring. Since then, President Hartzell has refused to respond or meet with union members.

Why, union members ask, is President Hartzell meeting with millionaire bankers and oil executives, but refusing to meet with the campus workers who show up every day to keep UT running?

WHEN: Friday, September 13 at 5pm The rally will begin at 5pm. At 5:20pm, the march will start to Guadalupe to create a ‘human billboard’ between 21st St. and 24th St. in front of UT Austin.

WHERE: The rally will be held on the West Mall steps of UT Austin. The march will be in two columns down the West Mall to Guadalupe St., with one column going toward 21st and the second column going toward 24th St. and forming a continuous line in front of UT.
