The media attention surrounding the presidential race is likely to bring more people out to the polls on Election Day. But for state employees in Texas the real showdown is at the state-level legislative races. While the nation keeps its focus on the presidential election, it is state legislators in the Texas Capitol who will be making the decisions over our pay, benefits, and working conditions.

TSEU members have met with these candidates at the local level and they have proven to be committed to working with us on our issues. Our national union, the Communications Workers of America (CWA), has endorsed Hillary Clinton to be the next president of the United States. It is evident that Clinton is by far the most qualified candidate to implement policies and programs that will improve the lives of millions of working families, including state employees and retirees right here in Texas. She is striving to build an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top. That means raising the national minimum wage, equal pay for women’s work, paid family leave, and debt free tuition at public universities.
