January 2024 – SIGN THE PETITION!

Maintaining high educational standards and fair compensation is crucial for a safer and more effective parole system for our communities. Make your voice heard by signing the petition here.

Changing the hiring standards by allowing individuals without a bachelor’s degree to become Parole Officers raises significant concerns about the competency and qualifications of those entrusted with supervising and ensuring the rehabilitation of parolees. A rigorous educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of the criminal justice system and effectively managing parolee cases. Changing these standards compromises public safety and the effectiveness of parole supervision.

Furthermore, we find it unjust that new officers without a bachelor’s degree receive the same level of compensation as their counterparts who have invested time and effort in obtaining a higher education. Recognizing the importance of education in developing critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills, we advocate for a compensation structure that reflects the value of a bachelor’s degree in the field.

In the interest of public safety and the professionalism of the parole system, we respectfully request a thorough review of the current hiring standards and compensation policies for Parole Officers. We believe that maintaining high educational standards and fair compensation will ultimately contribute to a safer and more effective parole system for our communities.
